It’s been a minute since we’ve posted! Over the last year a lot has happened. Jonathan, our founder and CEO, graduated high school and is finishing his first semester at Georgia Tech. Matthew, our grunt and Jonathan’s dad, has been installing new accounting and website software at work, moving the “day job” corporate office from Boca Raton to Delray, selling the house, moving to a new space, and dealing with family stuff. Not a ton of free time for 3d Printing. BUT…..
One thing that is always fun to print are objects that can be done in “Vase Mode.” Some slicing software like Cura call this “spiralize outer contour”, but either way, it’s basically one continuous stream of plastic put down on top of the previous to make a single shell, 1 wall object. We shared the Vase Mode Rocket – Verns Style a while back, and that was a fun project. Now, we’re sharing a new fun project, the Pumpkin Jigsaw Vase models made by Clockspring3D.
Each part took about 90-minutes to print. They’re all 3Dprinted exactly the same, 0.8mm nozzle with a 0.96mm extrusion width, 25mm/sec at 210 degrees, 0.2mm layer height and 0.16mm first layer height.
I thought it would be neat to have on the office desk, with paperclips in one pie slice, rubber bands in another, maybe small binder clips in the third. However, I really like printed all of the slices to give my assortment of 3D Fuel PLA a workout, test both the Raise3D N1 and N2 machines in Vase Mode, and just enjoy the sound of our 3D Printers whirling again.
We thought of coating it with a food-safe finish and using it to serve almonds and cashews at our next party! What would use put in each of the different slices?
