It’s been a while since we shared some of our 3D Prints on the blog!
We’re BACK!
We bought a bunch of MakerGeeks Maker PLA. Their filament comes in some amazing colors! We have found that it prints best with little to no retraction, so that means printing bowls, vases, and other “Vase Mode” objects!
First up – the Candy Bowl by Creative Tools. Found on Thingiverse.com. I keep some mints or candy on my desk when people come to chat, and I think that having it in a 3D Printed bowl is more fun than a boring old dish. The model is Thing 687931 and it’s a great little bowl that can be used for candy or keys or cotton balls. We’ve got a time-lapse of the print below the technical settings!
For those who like to know the print settings, we printed it on our Raise3D N1 3D printer with our slicer set as follows
- 230 degrees with a
- 62 degree heated bed. We used a
- 0.8mm nozzle with a
- 0.2mm layer height. We used
- Vase Mode, and of course,
- no retraction.
- 30mm/s print speed
- 2 hours for the original 135mm x 60mm dish
- 3.5 hours for the 125% scaled up 170mm x 70mm (or 6.5 inches by 2.9 inches high)
